About Us
The building that is occupied by Main Street Mat Company is over 100 years old.
The building was constructed to be a laundry and has always been one. Also, the company has always been locally owned and operated. The original business name was Model Laundry and Drycleaners.
Leonard Faucett purchased Model Laundry in 1951. He was the third owner and operated the business for almost 30 years. It was under his leadership that the first rental mats were offered to the company's clients. It was also under his leadership that two long-term employees joined the company.
Kurt Quillen began in 1970. Kurt's father Ed was General Manager.
Daniel Vonalt began in 1971. Dan's grandfather Leonard was the Owner.
Daniel Vonalt purchased Model Laundry in 1980. At that time, the list of cleaning services offered included hospital linen, motel linen, restaurant linen, uniforms, shop rags, dust mops, floor mats, and dry cleaning. In 1998 Daniel decided to focus the business on floor mat rental and the company name was changed to Main Street Mat Company.
Today, due to the combined efforts of Daniel and Kurt, Main Street Mat Company is a state of the art business that features:

- Automated material handling systems
- Water re-use
- Wastewater treatment
- Electrical co-generation
- PACE certified
To make things even better, in 2011 Andrew Quillen (Kurt's son) has purchased a portion of Main Street Mat Company and plans to carry on the family tradition!
Notable Features of Main Street Mat Company
We produce all of our own electricity
30 years ago we installed what is known as a co-generation system at our facility. This system produces all of our electricity as well as all of our hot water. This allowed us to get rid of our boiler and reduce our energy costs. We effectively produce three times the electricity that we use. Recently under Colorado law we have now been selling our excess energy to the city of Longmont.
Great Equipment
We have a one-of-a-kind mat tunnel. It is a 2 pocket 250lb Milnor CBW. We specifically designed it to wash only mats. It is the only one like it in the world.
Deregulated by the EPA
We have been deregulated by the EPA for our waste water discharge.
Certified Green
In 2008 we were certified as Green company through a program called P.A.C.E. (Partners For A Clean Environment). It is a local government program that certifies companies a Green.
Mat Selection
We provide our customers with a wide variety of floor mat products whatever size and color mat that they want. Each customer gets the same mats back for all their deliveries. Every one of our mats is treated like a logo mat and is specific to each customer. We currently offer over 60 colors of standard mats.
Handhelds
We recently switched to handhelds on all of our routes. This has saved us paper and time. This has allowed us to consolidate our office to one printer instead of three. It has helped to align us more with our green image.
